I did enjoy the trip even though i wasnt too succesful, but on my first trip back to my beloved Throop i haaaulled, a new pb barbel of 8.5 and 4 chub to 6.3! spot on!

Just wanted to add, after finally getting a minute, thanks all for a great weekend, thoroughly enjoyed, although the next one I will definitely muscle into the best barbel swim, pity I couldn't find one for Ian who still needs to christen his new rods and get his barbel career off to a start............

Roy, you should have taken a dump in PJ's bivvy, that would have taught him not to catch all the barbel

I'd like to clear up the scathing remarks about my toilet habits over the weekend. Contrary to reports in previous posts relating to the number of times I did the necessary, I actually only visited a lavatory once whilst on the fishing trip itself. However, it was a classic!

Hi All

Thanks for the support, with regard to the fish-in, great result all round, weird about the aboce the weir swims as thats where Dave Potter saw the big fish landed last week, bad timing I guess.

Just to let you know I am trying to sort out another date for September, date to be confirmed (mid to late I suggest) so I'll keep you posted but we are being offered some great, amazingly well priced, beats of rivers.

I challenge anyone to do a 18 man fish in...

What a great weekend! Such a pleasure to see old and new faces. Well done Jez for organising it - you are a star! Well done Micky for this splendid website which has been the medium for anglers to communicate and make new friends.

The swim I fished looked good but I couldnt get a touch all day. It wasn't till just befor midnight that I caught the first at 9-02 followed 20 minutes later by a 9-07. Great fishing. Made the wait worthwhile.

Thanx Jez for the organising and thanx to Micky and Pete for the barby and thanx for all the other guys' contributions. Learnt a fair bit about rigs, and presentation, and bringing them in. Managed a 4'lber on my new rod and that was hugely satisfying.
Fished to midnight Sunday for a 3ish chub.

The funny thing was that when I said to him in a fairly pleased manner that i'd caught 6 fish overnight from one swim, he said to me "You must be doing something wrong as it's not uncommon to catch 10 to 15 fish from this swim". So I then turned to him and said that seeing as myself and others have done considerably less than average, it makes you wonder if its worth ever coming back again as we're clearly not suited to the river. You should have seen the look...

Dave i had to laugh reading your post as it brings back memories.
A few years ago a group of us used to fish there a fair bit and i cannot believe the story of the 63lb Carp is still going strong .
When we first met the baliff he also informed us of catches of Barbel with up to 25 to 30 in one session and single fish going over 20lb

Hi All

In the forward planning spirit of the website I have secured exclusive use of the Anchor Meadow Fishery on the Warwickshire Avon for Saturday 5th, the Saturday night and all of Sunday the 6th of July 2008.

You can fish just one day, the 2 days and stay localy in a B&B or camp out the night and fish the whole stay, up to you.

Price is dependant on interest, as you can imagine, but its going to be in...
