David, I'm mostly a static angler, but do roll meat on occasions.
Maybe "overawed" was the wrong word, but what I meant was, what on earth do you do on there to be different from all the other anglers, as surely
it's one of the most pressured stretches of water in the country ?

Ok Kev, serious this time
Why do you want to be different from the other anglers? The fish don't swim round looking for something new or out of the ordinary. paul4 |

I'd personally suggest that if you're static fishing, take with you some halibut pellets or some Scopex, Maple 8 or Active 8 boilies. The Barbel seem
to have a 'sweet tooth' on the Royalty when it comes to boilies. If fishing a rolling method, I'd opt for Spam as my bait.
My best advice to you would be to fish with your gut instinct. Many of the regulars blank whilst day ticket anglers catch a big fish, simply because they've decided to fish a less popular area in a particular swim or a less popular swim altogether. I know this may sound strange but believe me it's true!!! All the best, Paul |

Really simple for me mate, if your fishing static, pellet or boilie as PJ says and plot up, sit it out and hope you get lucky...
Roll everywhere you can if thats what you are doing... Simple as a numbers game on that section, Let us know how it goes... Jez |

Fished the Royalty today and the method that seemed to be "banking" was rolling, 2 blokes walked past, both had caught 3-4 fish before 11am rolling,
watched one of the blokes walk 20 meters down from my swim and lose a fish first cast, might be worth a go, however, i lost a fish on a static bait....

Quest for my first double is complete!!! | #16 | ||

After nearly 2 seasons of searching after my first double i managed to complete it this friday with 10lb 6oz Royalty Barbel, as you can imagine i was over the
moon, but i returned today to have another one at 10lb 13oz! What are the chances of chasing such a fish for nearly 2 years and then to have 2 in 3 days?
