Nice one John, I intended to go out Wednesday last week but got involved with some jobs at home. I started getting ready to go to Thatcham Friday morning, but
after cooking my fried breakfast had a small Fire in the kitchen and it took till gone one oclock to clean it up so the fishing went out the window unless the
fish like smoked bait etc. I now intend to go Tues or Thursday as I have got to get some time on the bank. I will keep a look out for you and Stuart just in
case you are about.

Thanks for the tip Ray, trouble is if I took shrimps for bait I would end up eating them with a bit of pepper and vinegar, still will bear it in mind and one
day share a few with the fish.

Just come back from a day and a half fishing me new club. Start off using pineapple pop ups again but with little effect so changed to red maggots which
simply has to be the best bait ever.....casters, corn, worms not a sausage but those little red fellas Lazy will deffinitley be up for a session on the Thames...i've only had a little flutter on her before but looking forward to seeing some new areas!! |

Just had one of those red letter days!
Just come back from a day and a half on a new venue and managed 21 Tench. Had 3 x 7's, 3 x 8's and at last knocking landed an 11lb beauty!! I was shaking and nearly missed my other rod screaming off with a 8lb 8oz. Red maggots...that's all they wanted to now :D I recon i smashed my PB of 6lb 8oz about 11 times

deffinitley going to make the most of them! How about you....any plans yet....rods made up...bags packed

Tench Bait | #51 | ||

This is an easy one... Carp Lakes - give em a boilie - Yellow or bright red works well... If you can find a nice natural lake then maggot and chopped worm
always worked for me Groundbait - easy to overfeed tench... Kev

Saying that i have a friend at work who goes fishing in France every now and again. He fished for the Cats a few years ago and ran out of ground bait so a few of them ledgered for some silver fish....chopped em up and boated them out.....and yes Tench were in the mix .

First time out this season yesterday evening at Thatcham Lakes (Newbury AA waters) - in fact first time on a stillwater for nearly two years! Seemed strange
sitting there watching the float after so much time on the river. Just a single Tench of 4-01. It was in beautiful condition. Wish I could appreciate it
more but I must confess I've been spoilt with barbel. Good to be fishing again though.
The bait? - Good old fashioned bread flake! Back to Danny's amazing Tench session. Well done mate! My personal best is 5-13 from Collins Lake - the next pit along from Knots, where I fished yesterday. The carp boys often catch Tincas up to 10lb (allegedly) there, so that's where I should really be. Might give it a go on Wednesday - that's if I can keep away from the Kennet. Nice to see Peter JC last night. Thanks for the coffee.

Smashed my pb yesterday with this male of 7.12 also lost one a lot bigger towards the end of the session.
Caught on a method feeder 2" hook link with a plastic caster on a hair rig and two reds superglued to it. .
be back for more this week, later Pete. |
