Kennet Report | #2 | ||

Hi All
My 1st report for 2008, water levels a tiny bit up, really well coloured and looked nailed on to produce. No temps, dont take them... Wasing rammed out with 25+ people on the 2 beats I walked, 2 fish reported, both around 4lb, thats it... Me, I fished for 3 1/2 hours for nout, even resorted to float fishing corn, for nout... So, KJ, your ok bud, did'nt miss anything. Boy it looked good though... Hope others did better, Jez |

I managed an 7lb plus Barbel rolling a chunk of Spam at about 11 a.m this morning
after shivvering for most of the night without a bite. Not the best "first day" but better than a blank. It was great to be back on running water. Micky |

I was on Wasing too...nothing all night and nothing rolling during the day. Only know of 2 caught (prob the same 2 Jez heard about). Interesting fact i
heard.According to a friend of the Missus who watches that Springwatch programmme, she says that nature is a wee bit late this year in regards to breeding
patterns? Normally its a regular pattern but every so often its off cycle. How the breeding patterns of a barn owl has a connection with barbel I dont know but
since they all form some sort of ecological circle maybe there is a somewhat distant coincidence. Maybe the barbel havent recovered from spawning or are still
are spawing? I dont know if this is true or not as I cant get near the remote to watch it? (clashes with some crappy soap!) Has anywone else any ideas?
I'll be keeping an eye out in the angling press just to see how many barbel are shown...
updated... http://www.fishing.co.uk/species_display.php3?id=1 July.. and more than once apparently...

Fished Wasing yesterday afternoon and evening untill about 11. Managed 3 barbel to 7.2. Struggled today. Had 2 chub and after several hours of constant
twitches on the rod tip (oooh er missus), a dace of about 6oz. Such was the height of tension, that when the tip finally pulled round into a hittable bite, my
ensuing lurching strike sent the first recorded dace into outer space!
