Jez you're a diamond. A Prince among men...well a good bloke anyway. It was a terrific night, I really enjoyed it. Can't wait to get out and try
again. I think it may take a while to really get the hang of it, but I shall persevere.
A very big thank you to Alan for allowing me to tag along. Cheers mate and well done on your first rolled barbel! |

Hi all
Apologies for my recent lack of imput - I've struggled to log on to the new regime and, as it happen, I've had little to imput anyway. Yet to fish this season, though I should rectify that situation tomorrow. Congratulations and salutations to those who have caught and who have simply angled. Though I haven't officially wetted a line since March, I did get up to the Old Mill, Aldermaston in late April and made the biggest catch of my life - that's what I've told Sue, my new wife, at any rate. Great day - great weather - and a dream to get wed by my favourite river. Good luck to all for the season. Best wishes Kev |

Thank you all.
She's proved herself a fine wife already. I got to the river on Sunday to find I'd left my landing net at home, but my good lady came to my rescue and dropped it off to me. I lost a couple of hours as a result, though, with the exception of a small chub, I had no need for a net until my last cast when I finally had a decent pull. It felt a reasonable fish which dived for a snag, grating the line horribly. A sudden buck on the rod tip, and I thought she'd gone, but the power was there again in an instant and this time she felt even bigger - blimey I was into a monster. Of course, the hook had slipped and nicked the pectoral, so part of me was relieved when she went 9lb 13oz - because owning up to a foul-hooked double mightn't be so easy. Fishing opportunities will be a bit thin on the ground this Summer, and it might be a couple of months before I get out again - but you never know..... Good luck all, Kev |

Out yesterday evening on Wasing I had 3 rolling meat and my mate Rob had 4 roving plus 3 Chub 2 best Barbel went 8lb +
River not really effected by weekend rain still low with visibility of gravel runs in most areas but with good flow. Two points of interest: 1. Rob caught a fish with a pectoral fin missing! 2. Meeting the crayfish man and seeing his catch of 'reggies' Off to buy more SPAM.....................Alan |

Spam is 50p off in Somerfields ,making it cost £ 1 .36 for a 340 gm tin. Anyone know where it can be bought cheaper? Micky |

Bacon Grill is the way forward.
If in doubt - take the taste test. Bbq-ed Bacon Grill is the food of the Isaaks - and it's 'stayability' on the hook and cheaper price, make it THE meat bait! Mmmmmmmm.... Kev |

Repete and I fished through the showers this afternoon for four Barbel and three chub.
All the Barbel were 9 pounds plus ( Pete had the best at 9-09.) Here is the first one.
Thanks for the photo and company Pete. Micky |

Cheers Micky an enjoyabarbel day again, looking forward to next week.
on arrival we were told the river was down on the previous day but still well up on summer levels, during our afternoon and early evening session the river came up at least another 3 inches. That log pile was nothing to do with Roy, was it. Pete W |
