Had to land my own fish for a change last night as i gave my ghillie the night off!!
Appologies for the pic as it was taken on my phone. Then the rain got heavier and the wind got stronger so I gave into the elements. Funny though how you
always stay out longer if you haven't caught!

Alan what a relief mate. That's the sort of thing that happens to me, except I would manage to break everything within a 10 yard radius of me, clumsy oaf
that I am. Unlucky on the lost fish though.
Luke good luck and best wishes with fatherhood. A new PB I guess! On the Kennet tomorrow with a mate of mine. Fingers crossed for a few fish on the bank. Well done to all those recent captors, some cracking fish in there. |

Jez - You are right DR pointed that out even though i have had 2 11lb fish in it. The mesh is also too small and in fast flowing water its a struggle. If my
net is a 'Dace catcher' - i''ll sell it to you then... go on make me an offer... last time i left you on the river you were catching dace
we're you not??

Out for another play with my new rods had two fish to 8lb static and two rolling four bites four fish 100% catch rate very pleased with my performance just
need to find more fish!
Nice fish Wesley and Micky well done I'm still searching for my 1st double this season but hey I have had more fish this season than I had all of last so happy with that thanks Luke for the heads up on Wasing. Nathan I hope you had a good day today! Alan |

nathan hope you catch a few mate mickey well done sir.keep showing us younger ones how it should be done and alan it was a pleasure to show around wasing.glad your catch rate has gone up. even though im not fishing at the moment,im still planning the downfall of that 15lber im going to catch when im back out there..

mickey well done sir.keep showing us younger ones how it should be doneHi Luke, with the extra weed in the Kennet this year try casting upstream with a feeder of pellets into the clear faster water.Allow the feeder to settle and empty (about 5 minutes) then slowly lift the rod to dislodge the feeder and move your hooklink about 3-5 feet further downstream.(we have been using hooklinks of about 2 feet.) When the bite comes the first indication (normally) is the line moving downstream,we tend to use a running and not a fixed rig. Due to trees /bushes etc.not all swims can be fished this way but it is well worth trying to present a bait differently to other anglers. Tight lines. Micky |

Taking advantage of the weather, dry for once, I fished a tough venue last night, and left at midnight - plenty of cray activity, and some chub pulls, but no
boris.
An hour later, I was at in a hot swim of mine, on another bit. Started with a 7lb, then 2 x 8s - topped with a 10lb 14oz. A very pink colouring around the snout and barbules - been feeding on too much "robin red" (?) boilies. A wren landed on my rod..

Don't normally post on here but just had to thank Nathan for a great time yesterday. Not sure about giving details, but let's just say we did ok! River was much lower and clearer than we expected and things were difficult until later on but then....................... Beautiful river, beautiful place, beautiful fish, magic! Cheers, and now back to the Medway!
We'll banish all sorrow and sing till tomorrow

Well done Simon on the double. Changing venues after midnight!!!.
I am most envious as I can no longer drive at night. Out today and what a lovely day to be on the river. Only managed two Barbel, one of 5lb and a very scrappy, bad tempered 7-12 who did not want to come to the net, certainly one of the hardest fighting fish I've had this season. drab/wet/windy day. Its August not November. 
River Kennet has dropped 2 inches in 4 days and is much clearer today. Micky |

Off to the sun for 2 weeks now - back mid sept, for when the big girls start feeding, and all the fair weather anglers will have gone.
I have a sneaky feeling I'm leaving at the wrong time though, looks like we're in for some rain.. 
Somebody else can fish my swims

Simon, A bit of higher pressure coming in this weekend with the wind swinging round to the east, north and all over the place.

I fished one swim last night as slightly incapacitated with a bruised heel and groin strain (don't ask!) and couldn't walk too far. 
I had the quickest bite I have ever had Barbel fishing I cast underhand 15 yards upstream to a snag put rod on rest as I lifted my hand off the rod the tip was slamming I lifted into the fish but it pulled into the snag and unhooked itself......... 
Fortunately I did not lose any tackle so refilled the feeder and recast to the same spot and over the next few hours I had 3 more bites resulting in 3 Barbel best two 8.2 and 8.10 all fought really well...........a very enjoyable evening although I missed rolling which I believe would have produced some more fish.

Well done Alan, hope the injuries mend soon.
Out today, river still looking good, very windy at times. Had one Barbel of 4-8 at 10am then nothing until 4pm when an 8lb'er came my way. Managed another at 5pm of 7-12 Metcheck seems to be changing it's mind about the weekends' weather. Yesterday it was going to be sunny with rising air pressures and an easterly wind, now it's the opposite, how can I plan ahead.?? Think I'll go again tomorrow, just to be on the safe side.
