Still cannot find an open ended heavier feeder. Attempted to make my own not a bad effort but not great ! All the usual gang on here have attempted to help
. Just wondered if any of the 521 avearage viewers per day could help out, thanks in advance DR

How big do you want them David? These are "Trent Special" size but you won't want them on the Kennet
Obviously DIY. Tube is from a rod tube. The perforated one is a hair curler inner from a pound shop. Weights are either strips of lead (not shown) or "proper ones" available for purchase, but more than you'll need. Let me know what you are after, and I'll help you with specifics if I can.paul4 |

Hi Paul thanks for your reply its not so much the capacity I am worried about its the weight . I use Drennan 50 g . I am looking for 80 or even 100g feeders it
was pushing through on the river yesterday Best David

Interesting that article on making feeders a bit shiny for me . I had to use camo powder on the lead I used on my attempts, they look well made though DR

Hi Dave
I use the 50g Kamasan black cap feeders on the Stour and in flood conditions i add 'Cow Leads' (or Dead Cow Leads as some call them) with these i can get the feeder to weigh 4.5oz +. These have legs that push through the existing holes in the feeder body and this helps to control the release of maggots by blocking some of the holes which is handy with the extra water pushing through. With the extra flow the feeder responds in the same as it would in the summer without the extra weight

For the majority of my barbel fishing i use Drennen gripmesh feeders,plug the ends with marine halibut pellet groundbait and fill the middle with various sizes of pellets. As my esteemed colleague and lifelong drinking, sorry fishing partner Dave Tready pointed out add as many cowleads until the feeder holds bottom.(fnar fnar) 
P.S. if you tuck a five of spades in the feeder it fools a lot of fish
