Posts: 100 07/09/2008 17:34:28	Tags : None Hi All I know we've all had accidental captures but I got rather jammy on Saturday and whilst fishing a 2" bleak for Perch this thing came along... It had a monstrous head and really slim body so will deffo go bigger than the 21lb+ it went, really lucky on 8lb Fluro and it was hooked fair and square in the back of the mouth... Awesome colours and a great fight. Here is Phil with his 2lb7oz perch, caught on the same size bait... Then, last knockings, Jason had a run and yet another pike took the bait, on the same rod and same fluro, amazing to get 2 in on such light tackle... The Royalty was well up and flying through and we did'nt even end up fishing for the barbel as the other sport was so good and here is a picture of how it looked. Regards Jez

Posts: 1272 08/09/2008 22:17:48 Moderator	Well done all of you and great photo's. Jez., the biggest Pike I ever caught was on the river Arun, 28lbs., back in the 60's. This was caught on a whole herring injected with pilchard oil, (you should have seen the oil slick going down river). If your fish had eaten herrings instead of bleak it would have been huge. But that of coarse was a purposely caught fish. The biggest accidental catch was a 19 lb'er caught whilst fishing for anything with a maggot feeder and 6lb mono..----Dudmoor Hants. Avon. I'd hooked a gudgeon and as I was cranking it in a big pike took it. The size 14 hook was right in the 'scissors' I must say that I reckon that fight, and the scary moments it gave me , took about 10 years off my life . Congrats. and best wishes,-----John.
