I'm pretty sure we all would but the sad reality is that it will probably never happen!! Only chance is to catch a lot of big fish
consistantly.....that's me out then |

Hi BarbelKing
Dan is right - and yet.... With respect, at sixteen, you have more opportunity than most of us to exploit the sport we all love. As Dan says, catch a monster or two and you are well on the way - but keep a notepad in your pocket, and a camera in your bag, absorb every second, and who knows? One thing to ponder, though, and I mean not to dissuade, is to consider the implications of having to catch a fish - if that pressure took away the pleasures of angling then look elsewhere for a career. On the flipside, though, people do make a living from angling - and love every second, and I, for one, would love to wake in the morning and not have to face the drudge of a 9-5. It might just be worth chasing the dream. Best wishes and the best of luck, Kev |

mate, you should think about getting yourself on a course at sparshot college, learn about the fish etc, then you will go on work experience weeks on
fisheries.this way you will get your foot in the door.but like dan said mate, you really need to be catching big fish on a weekly basis.almost to order as it
were..you really need to learn everything you can,so you can give your sponsor something back in return.just look at people like terry hearn who is sponsored
by esp..he is probably the best carp angler in the country, people buy esp rods and dynamite bait purely because he uses it.he has a colunm in the angling
times..this is what sponsors really want..if you want free bait and tackle you must be on top of your game.get into every aspect of fishing you can.learn about
all the species not just one.if you can go and catch any fish your after your then on your way mate...hope you get where you want to be mate..
good luck. luke |

Hi Ashley
All the above is right, there is no real career in fishing except fisheries management or tackle development. For these things the following applies - fisheries management at Sparsholt as Luke says or I would write to all the leading tackle companies for work experience then you never know. I'd try all the big names, Korda, Fox, Shimano and all the others, they will give you some good advice and maybe some work experience. Just something to bear in mind, take the top TV guys out of it, theres no money in it at all... Jez |
