Its been a while since I last posted and I've just started to get back into the swing of things after my father passed away in March. No barbel fishing but I've managed some lovely days on my fishery catching carp on light gear and being with friends including that giant hairy dog of mine. So how is everyone? Posts: 1290 22/09/2008 21:21:14 Moderator	Hiya. Minipeace, good to see you posting again and I hope things are settling down after your sad loss. Barbel fishing this season for me has been patchy, still catching but not in the same numbers as previous years. Numbers are not important to me, a day on the river is. Glad to hear the 'big fella' is still fishing with you. I would love to take my Lurcher with me but, as you know, most of the Kennet and the Hants. Avon is anti dog. I do take him 'fluff flinging' on lakes where he is welcomed and he is very well behaved and takes an interest in the fishing, and the food at lunch time. He was 18 months in a Dog Trust rescue home, nobody wanted him. Totally 'bombed out' when I took him on. But , I could see a lot of good in him. He has rewarded my faith by being the most intelligent and faithful dog I have ever had . In my shooting days, ( I don't shoot any more ), I trained many a top class gun dog but , none of them could better this one. He will be 10 in January and I hope he will continue to be ' my best mate' for a while longer. When he passes on I will be happy in the knowledge that he has had a wonderful life with me for a few years, far better than his previous. Best wishes,---John. Posts: 38 22/09/2008 21:56:02	Hi John You Have a fine looking chap there. He's a lucky chap too to have such a great home. Where I take Bruce for his daily walk there's a Lurcher that loves to play with Bruce. Poor Bruce stands no chance when he sprints around him. My boy is as slow as they come My young lady got me back into fishing. I had just cleared through the house, you know that awful job and I was feeling a bit lost so she told me to get my licence online and go fishing. Within an hour I was down the lake with her. Oh boy it was lovely, sat in the shade of a tree, pole in one hand and Carol sat to my side and I managed a few carp too. I had a good day the other week, I dusted off an old Shimano Diaflash float rod and loaded a pin with 4lb line and had great fun catching carp upto 6lb and a few roach. Hard to believe I use to fish the St Pats with this rod many years back for barbel.
